Classroom Rules

  Follow directions the first time they are given.
  Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak.
  Stay in your seat unless you have permission to do otherwise.
  Bring all books and materials to class.
  Respect the people, property, and furnishings in this room. 
  Allow Ms. Berger to teach. 

In addition, all classroom routines and procedures will be followed.  All rules of the handbook will be observed.

Consequences

Discipline Policy
There is a new discipline policy being implemented at St. Martha starting this school year (2008-2009).  Please refer to your school handouts for specific details.  If you have questions or concerns please contact school administration.

Grading

  Grading Scale
A   93% - 100%

B   84% - 92%

C   75% - 83%

D   70% - 74%

U   69% or below

  Grading Components
Tests = 50% of final grade
Homework / Quizzes = 30% of final grade
Projects / Portfolio Pieces = 20% of final grade

Tests
Tests will always be announced at least one day ahead of time. 

Homework Policy
Homework will be assigned most days.  Practice is very important in English.
Homework will usually be graded the following day in class.  Students are encouraged to ask questions at this time.  Quizzes will be given periodically.  Students should keep old homework assignments and quizzes available to help study for tests. 

Projects / Portfolio Pieces
Each quarter, there may be a project or portfolio piece.  Students will complete both individual and group projects.  Portfolio pieces will be individual.
